PAT Olympics!

Last week Parents as Teachers had an Olympic night. It was so fun to have the whole family go together! They had so many large motor skill activities for the kids to do. This was right down Bella's alley! They had "weight lifting", a slide, obstacle courses, cones, basketball, hockey, balloon tennis, bean bag toss, gymnastics, parachutes, and a few crafts!

Bella painted the olympic rings on a flag using the end of a toilet paper roll to dip in the paint and then press on the paper. She also made herself a gold medal!

We were all worn out by the end of the night!

4 month milestone!

The week before Benjamin turned 4 months old, he rolled over for the first time from his back to his tummy! He's done it 2 or 3 times since then! He loves doing his tricks, he always looks back at me and smiles! He has a belly laugh just like Bella did! I'm so blessed to have two kids with the greatest laughs! They make me smile everyday! Benjamin loves his play yard and reaches and grabs the toys that hang down. He loves grabbing at toys that lay around him. He's beginning to put everything in his mouth. Benjamin also has a grip like no other! I've lost so much hair!

He has also really started enjoying his thumb! Sometimes, so much that he shoves it in with his other hand while he's sucking away! He also enjoys the occasional eating and sucking the thumb at the same time! :)

At his 4 month checkup he weighed 13 lbs and was 24 1/2 inches long! Everything looked great! For some reason he didn't like when the nurse measured his head and started bawling and didn't stop until she left. I think he already knows she's the one that gives the shots! :) He smiled and laughed nonstop for Dr. Rinker!

Bella's new pose! This picture is for Gigi (she loves her new shoes!!!)

STRIKE!!!

Last week I took Bella bowling for the first time! She's been to the bowling alley a few times and loved the idea of kicking the bowling ball like a soccer ball, so I thought she would enjoy learning the right way! We met our good friends Emily, Samuel, Adri, and Siena at Lunar bowl. Benjamin and Siena kept each other company cooing and smiling at each other while Bella and Samuel took at the challenge of their first game!

The shoes were a little big on Bella, size 7, but she enjoyed sliding around on them! We asked them to show us their shoes for a picture and this is what they did! Haha, they loved posing!

They loved watching the balls pop up and the air vent that blows air out. Bella used it more as a hair dryer though, hilarious!

It took a painfully long time to watch the balls roll down and hopefully knock some pins down, but they didn't seem to mind!

65 was a pretty good score for her first time!

Potty Training 101

This week I learned that I have as much to learn about potty training as Bella does! What a week is all I can say! The weather was freezing and there was ice and snow on the ground so it made for a great week to be homebound. We got the big girl Dora panties, the MnM's, the potty chair, the potty books, etc. The first couple of days Bella was very cooperative and would try whenever I asked her to go and she would go on the potty, do her "potty dance", fist bumps, get an MnM, and we were all happy. We even had a hilarious incident involving poop and a brown canvas tote! I guess I thought she was done with her business and I was changing Benjamin and she walks in his room with something brown on her hand! I literally gasped! I ran in to find she had pooped in a brown canvas tote where we store her diapers and wipes! Interesting!!! I had to get out the carpet cleaner for pets! LOL.

Then, on day 3 she decided she did NOT want to go on the potty at all. Every 30 -45 minutes we would go and try and she would throw a fit and get down and then have an accident 5 minutes later. This went on for two days. So I was ready to give up. The next day we wore pull ups and if she wanted to go then fine, but I wasn't going to force anything. Believe it or not, she initiated twice and had a dry pull up and went in the potty! With one even being her first poo poo!

Haha, I know this is very exciting to everyone reading this! So now we are wearing pull ups full time, and I may put panties on her while we're home and she's awake, but my expectations are much lower, and I have to make her think that she's in control. :)
